A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol
The Watertown Players will present a musical comedy set in the north woods of Minnesota titled "A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol" at Santorelli's Wine Cellar, 700 E. Main St., Watertown.
The dates of the performances are Nov. 16, 17, 23, 24, each night at 7:00 pm with special Sunday matinees on Nov. 18 & 25 at 3:00 pm.
In a sequel to last year's successful show, "Don't Hug Me," written by Phil Olsen, with music by Paul Olsen, the play revolves around the lives of the denizens of a local watering hole called 'The Bunyan'. Owners Gunner and Clara are having yet another argument and Gunner storms out to take snowmobile ride across the frozen Bunyan Bay. While out he crashes through the ice and falls into a coma.
While in the coma he is visited by the spirit of local singing sensation Sven Yorgensen, who, in a nod to Charles Dickens' immortal classic "A Christmas Carol", portrays all of the spirits of Christmas and shows Gunner what the holidays would be like without him.
Joining the fun are Kanute, a local blow-hard, and his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Bernice, who fancies herself a lounge singer. There are songs like "Gunner Fell Into An Ice Hole", "The Christmas Cheese Polka" and "I Love You More Than Football".
