Aladdin Jr.

 

The Watertown Players will present Aladdin Jr. on July 13th and 14th at Watertown High School, 825 Endeavour Drive. Shows will begin at 7:00 pm each night with a 2:00 pm matinee on July 14th. A reception will follow the matinee, when the audience can meet the characters and have pictures taken with them.

Refreshments, including Mullen’s ice cream sundaes, will be available after all performances. In addition, door prizes will be drawn during each of the three performances for a fish-fry dinner from Watertown Kitchen. Two prizes will be awarded at each performance and the drawing will be done by local celebrities.

The musical tells the familiar story of the poor boy who finds a magical lamp. By rubbing it he summons a genie who grants him three wishes. He makes his first wish to be rich and famous and falls in love with the daughter of the Sultan, Princess Jasmine. Meanwhile, the evil Jafar has designs on the lamp and plans to make himself sultan and marry the princess.

The show is based on the famous Disney cartoon and features the songs heard from the film, such as "A Whole New World" and "Prince Ali".

The Watertown Players have secured the services of some of the finest designers in community theater. The costumes, which include a talking parrot and a magical genie, and all the sets will enable actors to appear and disapper.
